Zen Baseball Bat- a north-western treasure of  word-obsessed-humour,  under-dog social awareness and 2-tone/northern soul tunes, always wearing their mongrel odd-ball/punk past as a search warrant for future followers, and a secret weapon for their self declared war on mediocrity. After 10 years of fierce independent existence Zen have spent the last 2 years residing under the banner of Moonska records, owned and run by New York Ska-moochers the Toasters and home to some big names, and largely responsible for the re-visited 2-tone boom. Their first record for Moonska, ‘ I am a champion concrete mixer ‘ took them on tours of Europe and headlining dates all over the u.k, were they found much love for their far from conventional form of Ska. Mainstream press and radio airplay followed a good year for the Twins and Bats, after years of existing on the fringe of the mainstream music industry they have finally seen the beginning of a far wider appreciation of what they do best.

A second batch of fine tunes entitled ‘For Re-fund Insert Baby’ has been recorded and they are warming up for round 2 of spreading their dancing friendly, Trombone heavy and forever northern tinted depictions of life afterSka. It has been said that Zen onlymake100% sense to people who reside north of Knutsford and home town gigs under the bird shit bridge are getting rarer. Like Kashmir, the no-mans land of muddy banks between Widnes and Runcorn has seen its fair share of territorial battles over the years…. Of which in years gone by Zen Baseball Bats appearance at the new Brindley Arts Centre in Runcorn Old town, would have proved to have been a cheeky move.
