Well well, who’d have thought,
Huytons most (in)famous exports since Freddie Starr have coughed up
a second ep on good old class-a-audio records. I enjoyed the first
record a lot, it was so good, it pissed me off, as some may say, and
this new’n is no exception. I swindled a limited edition copy some
weeks back, number eleven of twenty, some may be left, I have no
idea, anyway, after it sitting in my back pocket briefly I have
gotten round to listening to the fucker now.

Definitely taken themselves up a notch these days, I hate to say
matured, because it’s the wrong word, quite frankly. But they have
definitely filled out a bit and found them sen. Opening with a
curious phase/flange intro then blasting straight into the lovingly
titled ‘Anarcho Pacifist Nihilist Optimist’ who’s resting place can
now be seen alongside hollyoaks girls and atomic kittens favorite
eatery. Bit hard to pin down, lot of elements of the more angry and
vicious side of indie here, a bit of big black, or maybe a bit more
shellac, and some influence from the fall if the fall were 18 and
pissed on turbo white.
Can’t help but get the feeling this CD would be perfect to
soundtrack to a fucking car-chase in a dick Tracy film, fast fast
fast relentless shit, all good, with piles of good old dry wit and
pissed fury layered on in piles. All continues with a re-recording
of number one mega super hit ‘image is everything’ with a bit of a
twist in the tail than the original. Rick wakeman of Yes fame takes
over for track 3 and 6 which is a nice thing of him to do, the whole
thing finishes off with the last track, surprisingly. I don’t know
its name because these numb nuts made a plums of the track list,
anyway, horribly vicious and biting, as they’ve become famous for,
relentless buzzing soul clenching, and a lovely forty minute outro
to go with it, being the sound of a drill losing its will to love.

The whole
thing sounds fucking huge, genuinely, the sound you’d get on a
pissing down Friday evening trying not to get stabbed in the gullet
by the kids. Hmmm yes, definitely buy it, for the sake of mankind.
