An Introduction
Having been created out of a drama group in Wayland prison, in 1996, Escape Artists is firmly rooted in the Criminal Justice System and has a very strong understanding of working in this environment. Our staff members include ex-offenders who have managed to establish a successful career in the arts, as practitioners and educators, and their ongoing input contributes to our understanding of the sector. Through the years, we have created a unique approach which has also proven successful in other sectors and we are now working in a variety of settings including schools, youth centres, hospitals and mental health services. Our education programmes are designed to appeal to all age groups, from 8 years and up, and we can deliver them across the UK. Escape Artists is an Open College Network (OCN) approved training centre and the majority of our arts programmes can be accredited. All our courses can also be delivered in the context of crime prevention and resettlement.
